Cultural Competency
Today we hear a lot of discussion regarding cultural competency. But what does this really mean?
Examine a dandelion that has gone to seed. Each seed is a discrete entity, yet each is linked to the other to create an elaborate pattern. Imagine that these seeds, and countless more, are the factors inherent in the knowledge necessary for the development of cultural competency.

Next Greatest Generation

Totally awesome! "Sweet" as my nephews would say. Delegates at the June ANA House of Delegates witnessed what I believe has the potential to be the next greatest generation of nurses.
Time to vote is now and not just in November.
With all the presidential campaign activities and analysis, one can not help to wonder how this race will turn out. I for one love listening to people talk about what is influencing the campaigns and who is going to win. Will McCain become the next president or will Obama win? Who do U think?
No matter how sorry we feel, will it decrease errors?

So my question for discussion is what is the role of discipline in errors? What is the role of punitive sanction? Can we as a profession endorse Just Culture Concept?
“We’re Nurses First”
Besides creating new associations for AORN members directly to ANA, it addresses a HUGE need in our profession. Unification!
